| | Drawing inspiration for the home’s Mediterranean influences and bold color palette from historic neighborhoods in Orlando, architect Donald Rattner designed a two-story home for a dual-income couple featuring a bold color palette, an open interior, a deep front loggia and an outdoor dining area overlooking the garden and pool. Specific to the “dual-income, no kids” profile, says Rattner, “The master bedroom has all the trimmings, but there aren’t a lot of other dedicated bedroom spaces.” A “cozy room” at the front of the house on the main level, for instance, could be an overflow bedroom for guests, while a second upstairs suite more likely serves as a home office or other use for the owners. Even the suite above the detached garage is destined to be used as an “escape” or game room more so than a guest cottage. “The house is oriented to serve a few people who will be there most of the time,” says Rattner. “The spaces are scaled for their use.” |
